Pet Preventative Healthcare

Our veterinarians will tailor your dog or cat’s parasite prevention plan to your pet’s medical history, their exposure, the type of environment your pet (and other pets) are living in, and your budget and convenience needs. In general, our doctors most commonly recommend ProHeart (an injection that protects against heartworm and some intestinal parasites for 6-12 months), once-monthly oral preventatives like Simparica and Simparica Trio, and monthly tropical products like Revolution. Pets needing other prescription parasite preventatives can find them in our online store.

Pet Diagnostics

At Arch Animal Hospital, we have the ability to perform extensive blood analysis tests in-house. This includes evaluation of blood chemistries, electrolytes, complete blood counts, blood glucose and fructosamine, and urinalysis. Having this technology on the premises gives us the ability to gather valuable diagnostic information within minutes, which in turn allows us to find and treat a large number of illnesses that might be affecting your beloved pets.

Pet Therapies

Many conditions we diagnose in pets every day need specific medications to be treated properly. This could include antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, or anti-parasite medications, just to name a few. Many of these medications are specific to veterinary medicine and are not available through a human pharmacy. At Arch Animal Hospital, we keep a full stock of pharmaceuticals so that when your four-legged loved one is sick, we can get treatment started immediately.

Pet Surgery

We recommend spaying or neutering companion animals to reduce the number of stray animals and as a preventive measure against disease later in life.

This elective surgical procedure is recommended to avoid accidental or unwanted breeding of dogs and cats. In addition, studies have shown that surgical sterilization of our pets younger than one year of age helps prevent or lower the likelihood of several life-threatening diseases.

Pet Dentistry

At Arch Animal Hospital, we believe dental care is one of the most important aspects of preventative medicine. Many pets will need to start routine dental cleanings by the age of 2-3 years old and will need complete oral health assessments/treatments every 1-2 years thereafter.
